I use these and then transfer to cardboard for a template. May sound hokey, but popsicle sticks. You can get a bag of 100 of them at Hobby Lobby for dirt cheap. Lay a piece of cardboard in the trunk, then start laying them down side-by-side and get the outline of what you need. Tape them down to your cardboard and pull it out and trace to wood.
